The word Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning "wheels of light", embedded in the practice of Yoga.
Terms such as chakra, aura, and electromagnetic energy field are
becoming more mainstream as we move into an age of
immense change. Change that is moving us beyond our five senses (sight, hear, taste, touch, and smell) of understanding into a new dimension of the sixth sense (ability to perceive things in ways
which transcend the use of the traditional five senses; also known
as intuition or inspiration). Each of us posses all six however many
are in the infancy stage of embracing their inherent ability.
Learning about the seven main chakras located along our spine is a way of connecting the senses, a way of connecting mind, body and soul. Our Intrinsic Wisdom is held within each of the chakras. Holding our experiences, our life long patterns, our fears, joys, dreams, and abilities. By exploring our chakras individually and as a system we open ourselves up to living more fully. This
brings peace to our individual lives, to the lives of others around us and
throughout our universe. Our ability to impact others with our
energy speaks to the electromagnetic energy field that connects us
all and creates peace or disharmony.
My interest in chakras has been from a psychological perspective
and the hardwiring that occurs from conception through death that
greatly contributes to how we interface with life. Understanding and
working with the chakra system can assist you in moving from an unconscious to conscious way of living.
There are many ways to work with the chakras with many books and teachings available to us today. My main study of the chakra system as been through my certification program as a chakra therapist with Sacred Centers founded by Anodea Judith, Ph.D..
